Homebound Delivery Service - Patron FAQ

What is the Homebound Delivery Service?

The Homebound Delivery Service is a free program provided by the Ridley Park Public Library that delivers library materials directly to the homes of patrons who are unable to visit the library due to medical conditions or other mobility issues. We offer a wide range of materials, including fiction, non-fiction, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines.

Am I Eligible for the Service?

You are eligible for the Homebound Delivery Service if you reside within the Ridley Park Public Library service area and are temporarily or permanently confined to your home due to illness, disability, or other extenuating circumstances. This service is open to patrons of all ages.

How Do I Sign Up?

Signing up is easy! You can contact the Ridley Park Public Library directly at 610-583-7207 for a paper application form or use the button at the bottom of this page. We will determine your eligibility, discuss your preferences, and sign you up for the service. If you need a library card, we will help you register.

How Does the Service Work?

Library staff or volunteers deliver materials to your front door using a bag system on a regular monthly schedule. Patrons receive a five-week checkout period for all materials. No fines are charged for overdue items, but patrons are responsible for any lost or severely damaged materials. The service is personalized to meet each patron's needs. We can place holds for new book releases and provide large print books, books on CD, and various non-fiction materials.

How Can I Refer Someone to the Service?

If you know someone who could benefit from the Homebound Delivery Service, please refer them to the Ridley Park Public Library at 610-583-7207. We welcome referrals from physicians, caregivers, and nursing homes.

What Should I Do if I Have More Questions?
